Engineer Awarded Medal of Honour

Nissei Scraping Engineer Kenzo Iga received a Medal with Yellow Ribbon from Government of Japan in 2020 Autumn Conferment.

Medal with Yellow Ribbon is awarded to individuals who, through their diligence and perseverance whilst engaging in their professional activities, became public role models. The 83-year-old has been serving over 40 years, since foundation of Nissei, in hand scraping work of cylindrical sliding surface of machine main spindles, where is a core part of our grinding machines. His exceptional skills and diligence of long-serving as a Hand Metalworking Engineer was acclaimed for the honour by the government.

Mr Iga was awarded Master Craftsman of Toyama by Toyama Prefecture in 2017 and Contemporary Master Craftsman by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2019.

Unfortunately, due to widespread novel coronavirus, the awarding ceremony in Tokyo by Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare was cancelled, and an audience by the Emperor at the Imperial Palace was not given.

Nissei is extremely pleased by him receiving this honour and grateful for his contribution and dedication over many years. The company will keep devoting themselves to transfer his knowledge and skills to younger fellows.
